Chemist Online Ecommerce Site Case Study
Background
Chemist Online are part of the Munro Group, Southcross Limited a £50 million turnover business. They are a respected pharmaceutical retailer operating retail pharmacies across London and the South-East of England. With a strategic hub in Highams Park, London, incorporating our Head Office and Central Warehouse, Southcross Limited delivers healthcare needs to many communities and care homes across the South East.
Their pharmacies vary in size from a small village pharmacy to large high street shops with additional departments such as perfumery, photographic and alternative therapies. They are also able to offer a service to those being cared for at home and have a wide number of patients having medication trays delivered to their homes and care homes.
Brief
Southcross Ltd had been developing a site for almost a year when Adeo Group got involved, they had decided to use offshore resource and when we were brought in they were not long in what they thought launching the site. After our assessment on the current site pointing out all the elements that are required to make a successful website they decided to cease trading with the current developer and let Adeo Manage the web project.
One of the major requirements was that they had to have the site launched in 5 weeks as they had a launch event for it and this couldn’t be pushed back.
In that time they had to have a new site launched with 4000 products uploaded.
Future development which had to be considered was for the implementation of Pline which is for prescription medicine and also for stock management which let the buyers print off reports on a daily basis to know what had to be ordered.
Result
Our approach was to use our RedBack Ecommerce which was tried and tested; this enabled us to be able to build the site within the restricted timescales.
We also had to import all 4000 products, descriptions, prices, photo etc, which in itself proved a challenge as the data had to be correct for the import.
The site has now been live for around 5 months and already ranking for major keyword terms. Its taking a number of orders daily and already Chemist Online can see the huge potential of the site. They are currently looking at Sage 200 to manage the products on the website through our Sage 200 web integration, but also to manage its high street stores and all back office systems.
