CgjahOmW4AA5XchYesterday our Client Services Director Chris headed up to Auchterarder to join this year’s Entrepreneurial Scotland Conference ‪#‎ESConf16 held at the beautiful Gleneagles hotel.

A celebration of entrepreneurship, the event featured speakers from a variety of different entrepreneurial backgrounds and industries including Lesley Eccles from award-winning FanDuel, Bob Keiller from Scottish Enterprise, Karen Marshall, from world renowned Bridge of Weir Leather Company Limited and Bill Aulet, Visiting Professor at University of Strathclyde, MD of Martin Trust Centre for MIT Entrepreneurship.

Many angles of entrepreneurship were covered throughout the days with speakers examining Scotland’s current entrepreneurship activity and what is need to further boost it. Bill Aulet offered his own insight for Scotland’s future suggesting that;

Diversity is key to innovation driven entrepreneurship, and is important if Scotland wishes to mimic the success of London.

Catching up with Chris today he said he had a great time meeting fellow workers in the creative, tech, science and business industries.

He also spoke about what he thought was one of stand-out talks from Brian Duffy of Aurum Holdings, whose take on branding and marketing was inspiring. Brian shared some pearls of wisdom about how he developed Ralph Lauren Europe, into a lifestyle brand and his personal journey from Castlemilk to New York learning languages and making his way to the fashionable top.

Within his talk Brian combined witty anecdotes with solid branding advice. Some of the takeaways included the need to properly analyse opportunities and business prepare as well as how businesses can build their PR value with free media (mentioned was the PR value for Wonderbra valued at £20M vs the advertising spend of £160k).

Entrepreneurship is something the team at Adeo Group are always proud to support. After a period of declining entrepreneurial activity in 2011, Scotland has since been able to push forward a change but as noted by Bill Aulet there is still more that can be done. For Adeo Group this is great news. Many of our partnering clients run small businesses and we have helped start-ups grow their business online from an idea to a fully functioning online business.
