Vote for Zoe Spence in the ‘Make your Mark’ Competition!
Our Graphic Designer Zoe has entered the ‘Mark Your Mark on the o2 Academy’ competition in Glasgow. Illustrators, Fine Artists, Graphic Designers, Graffiti Artists and Photographers were asked to create visually stimulating artwork for two panels that appear beside the main stage.
4 winners will be chosen by the judging panel, which includes Alex Kapranos from Glasgow band Franz Ferdinand. Alex stated “Glasgow has always been a fertile place for art and music. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes through in this project and I am happy to have been asked for my support.”
In the guidelines the artists were asked to consider the following points:
- Glasgow’s rich music heritage
- The 10th anniversary of O2 Academy Glasgow
- O2’s core brand values which include being bold, open and clear
- The O2 Academy’s key colour palette.
Please read Zoe’s rationale for ‘Homegrown Decadence’ below:
“Homegrown’ refers to the statement from Alex Kapranos regarding Glasgow being a fertile place for art and music. All the artists depicted are from Glasgow/Scotland who have links to or have played the O2 Academy. The word ‘Decadence’ is a reference to the 10 year Anniversary (Decade) of the Academy. The design also has clues to ten lyrics/songs from ten Scottish bands including Paolo Nutini, Twin Atlantic, Texas plus others.”
The winner will have the prestige of winning, promotion and publicity across O2’s channels plus a cash prize. Also whoever gains the most votes claims the people’s choice award. If you would like view the competition entries or vote for Zoe please follow this link.
